I just saw the Hunger Games movie again today (and this time I knew what font they used in the beginning, which was hugely exciting to me) and it reminded me how much I miss RP.

also I feel really guilty for the way I just disappeared. I think quitting was the best choice for me at the time, but, I should've actually quit instead of just up and disappearing.

and now school is over and my health issues have calmed down and I am waiting for my summer job to start and I am just so bored and I kind of want to get back into RP but I worry about biting off more than I can chew. idk, I just need to keep in mind that it'll be harder to balance RP and RL once I like, have things to do IRL.

so, what games are people in? or what games are coming up?

I don't know if any of you guys play Settlers of Catan, but this is my pride and joy.

Also, acting like Sirius during Catan made me really miss RPing him. It's been since I did forum RP, guys. That was a long time ago.

I finally wrote up my HG movie thoughts! And I might go see the movie again next weekend, so I will probably have MORE thoughts after that, but I wanted to get these down now anyway.

Also today I bought the HG soundtrack at Starbucks with Starbucks card money instead of real money (my dad is a teacher who doesn't drink coffee so I get all the Starbucks cards he gets from students, which is a lot), and I am so pleased with this purchase. I was planning on buying it with real money anyway but this is so much better.

Coming out as a HG RPer is so much harder than coming out as a HP RPer. "In my free time I pretend to be a wizard on the internet" is so much less weird than "in my free time I pretend to murder children on the internet."

Today is my day to work on apps, but instead I found myself making icons of Capitol pictures from the Hunger Games movie. I've got 9 Capitol extras in case anybody wants to use them as NPCs at gamemaker, and then I ended up making a few of President Snow and Caesar Flickerman and an aerial shot of the Capitol, too. Not sure if those will be useful anywhere, but... ( I made them. )

ETA: Added some crowd shots of the Capitol as well. Also I really wanted to make at least one Avox icon but I couldn't find any pictures that were high enough resolution. ):

Today in my databases class a girl got called on to write a query on the board. She pleaded hand injury and asked if someone else could do it, and our professor was like, "Seriously?" And then the guy who was sitting in front of her said, "I'll volunteer!" Then I am pretty sure he added, "I'll volunteer as tribute."

I really hope he was making a Hunger Games reference, but it's possible that it's just my brain doing that.

YOU GUYS

This game has occupied so much of my thoughts in the past two months, and this past week as we've been gearing up for the final countdown it's basically been all I can think about. I haven't been sleeping well that past two nights because I've been so excited about the final battle logs going up -- even though I'd already read them all, which struck me as kind of ridiculous. But as much as I love them and as much as I loved writing them,* they were so much better in context, with everybody's IC and OOC reactions.

I'll admit that at the beginning of the game I wasn't sure if we could really do it, if we could really play out the whole games and kill off twenty-three characters. Well, not only did we do it, but we did it fabulously! Thank you so much to everyone involved for your characters and your creativity, and for making me feel all the things. I've met so many lovely and inspiring new people in Odds. And THANK YOU Holly for organizing and running such a wonderful game, and for always being willing to get feedback and take our ideas into account. It wouldn't have been what it was without such a superstar mod.

I'm so excited to see what we come up with in round 2. (And I'm excited that some of our lurkers will be joining!)

jumping on the HG ideas bandwagon

The exceptions are the kids from the wealthier districts, the volunteers, the ones who have been fed and trained throughout their lives for this moment. The tributes from 1, 2, and 4 traditionally have this look about them. It’s technically against the rules to train tributes before they reach the Capitol but it happens every year. In District 12, we call them the Career Tributes, or just the Careers. And like as not, the winner will be one of them.

I know that in the HG fandom we pretty readily accept the term "Career," but I think it would be really interesting if other districts had other names for it. Especially the so-called Career districts. I think it would make sense if some of the other districts called them "Volunteers," because how often does someone who isn't a Career volunteer? Of course, we see Katniss do it, but we're told that volunteering, even to save a sibling, is not the norm. (Much like Lily Potter, Katniss is exceptional in her willingness to sacrifice.

I can't decide on a good term that I think Careers might self-identify with. I feel like "Career" has all the wrong connotations -- it's focusing on the fact that they're able to devote their life to preparing for the games when in 12 nobody has that kind of luxury. But in a district where that option isn't even questioned, I think they'd focus on the ambition or the skill or somesuch. Or their increased odds of winning. "Contender" maybe, or like, "prepared tribute."

I don't know. It's just something I'm thinking about instead of -- what am I even supposed to be doing? OH JUST PRINTING; I AM DONE. That's nice.

Does anybody else feel like writing the Hogwarts part of a history section of a trio era character can get really boring? Like, we have all rehashed this material so many times; I do not know how to put a ~fresh perspective~ on it or whatever.
